The Battery Operated Psychrometer is completely self-contained in a high impact, resistant molded, instrument case. Housed in this 10" x 4-1/2" x 2" case is a pair of highly accurate thermometers, a permanent accurate fan motor, a two ounce water bottle, a thermometer illuminating lamp, and a combined On/Off switch and intensity control. Externally provided with each battery operated psychrometer are an instruction manual, a humidity calculator slide rule, and a spare parts kit, which consists of extra wicking material and a lamp. All of the above are enclosed in a rugged carrying case. With the instrument removed from the carrying case, the instrument may be wall mounted and removed at any time for portable use.
The wet and dry bulb method of measuring moisture in the air is based on the evaporative cooling effect of the wet bulb. The dryer the surrounding air the more rapid water will evaporate. This causes the wet bulb to depress the temperature until a balance takes place between the cooling effect and the normal heat gain from ambient conditions. |
